Reception Theory
1) What is the preferred reading of a media text
This is when the producer picks and chooses how they want their audience to view the media text
2) What is the oppositional reading of a media text?
when the audience rejects the preferred reading, and creates their own meaning for the text.
3) How does the Harry Brown trailer position the audience to respond to the teenage characters in the film?
The Harry Brown trailer positions the audience to responding to the teenagers as violent and aggressive.
4) Why might young people reject this reading and construct an oppositional reading of the trailer?
Young people may reject this reading and construct a oppositional reading because not all young people are like that and it makes them look bad
5) The producers are showing that the burger is bigger than most by calling it the "Big Mac" .The 100% beef is a saying that this burger has nothing in the beef that is making the patty bigger. This Stereo type was conveyed in a movie called "Good Burger" which was to warn people why some burger meat is unnaturally big. They only describe the cheese, lettuce, pickles and bun because they are the most healthy thing in the burger and to steer the audience away from the idea of the acids in it. They also show the burger to make the audience want to buy it.
Negotiated Reading
A negotiated reading means that people have mixed feelings about McDonald’s. Some may be hungry and tempted by a burger or familiar with McDonald's foods they enjoy, seeing it as a convenient option. They might think of certain menu items, like the Grilled Sweet Chili Chicken Premium McWrap or Premium Southwest Salad with Grilled Chicken, as healthier than typical fast food, noting that while these items are higher in sodium, they’re still low in fat and calories.
However, others might be put off by health concerns about McDonald's food, especially the high fat content and artificial ingredients. They may also feel bad that McDonald’s stays open on holidays like Christmas, meaning many employees work instead of spending time with family.

Oppositional Reading
An oppositional reading means people reject or criticize McDonald’s entirely. This view focuses on problems, like low wages and lack of holiday pay, which some people see as unfair to workers. Critics also worry about the health effects of McDonald's food, highlighting things like "pink slime" (a meat filler) and how certain products don’t rot or decompose naturally. To people with this view, McDonald’s food seems unnatural and unhealthy, and the brand represents deeper problems with worker treatment and fast food quality.
These two readings show how different backgrounds and experiences can lead people to see McDonald's very differently, depending on what matters most to them.

I think he shows young people in a positive way and is trying to reach them since kids don’t read as many books anymore and watch more movies. Making movies and music videos is a smart way to connect with young people and show them what’s important. I also agree with how he presents teens because a lot of movies show teens in a negative light, even though not all teens are like that.
