Introduction to advertising: blog task
Skittles Advert Analysis:
1) What key conventions of print adverts can you find and what are the connotations or deeper meanings of each convention? For each convention, write about how it communicates meaning to the audience. See the Maltesers advert above for an example of how to do this.
Picture: The picture of the skittles product shows us how it looks. The picture will stick in the Audiences mind if they were to buy it in the shop.
Logo: The skittles logo is big the logo is the name, and it is colourful. The word skittles sounds playful and friendly as well.
Background: The background is clouds and it may show that you will be on cloud 9 whilst eating it, conveying how tasty the product is. There is also a colourful rainbow of skittles which may imply that their too good to be true.
Slogan: The slogan 'Taste the Rainbow' is a metaphor which refers to the rainbow being the skittles and how good they are.
Colour Scheme: The colour scheme is multicoloured showing each skittle will take you through a different emotion.
